Questions
Q: Where do I start?
A: Our first job is to make you comfortable and that we have your best interests guiding us every step of the way. That includes explaining the process so you know what to anticipate.
Q: My spouse and I have agreed to separate. What can I expect?
A: There is no set course for resolving family conflict, separation and divorce. Each family is different, and every family has its own unique dynamics. Our responsibility is to help you understand your options and chart a course that answers your needs today, tomorrow and into the future. We offer a full-range of resolution methods from negotiation and Mediation through to Arbitration and Litigation.
Q: I’m worried about this dragging on forever. How long is it going to take?
A: We understand your urgency in resolving this process. Our primary objective is to resolve issues as efficiently and as fairly as possible. But the reality is one party can’t do it alone. Where there is no immediate solution, we endeavour to identify your highest-priority issues and find interim solutions that will give you the peace of mind you need, as we work together toward a final resolution.
Q: Should I consider Mediation or Arbitration?
A: Alternatives, such as Mediation or Arbitration, may be a faster and less costly process to resolve your case without the need for litigation. However, pursuing an alternative to litigation requires a willingness of both sides to participate.
Q: I know nothing about the process. What are the steps?
A: Your first step is to arrange a meeting where you can get a feel for how we can help you. You have to feel that you’re in the right hands. To set up a meeting, please complete and submit our Client Questionnaire for separation matters or our Client Questionnaire for domestic contracts. This will give us the background information we need to discuss your issues.
